Station Status:

As of Monday, November 26, 2007 the Damen station is temporarily closed to rail service for 12 months as part of the Brown Line capacity expansion project.

Alternate Transportation Options

While the Damen station is closed, customers may board the Brown Line at the adjacent Western station or the newly-reopened Montrose station. These stations will remain open during the temporary closure of the Damen station to allow customers continued access to Brown Line service.

CTA Bus Routes

While the Damen station is closed, customers may choose to travel on any of the following nine CTA bus routes that provide service near the station:

•	#49 Western
•	#X49 Western
•	#49B North Western
•	#50 Damen
•	#78 Montrose
•	#81 Lawrence
•	#145 Wilson/Michigan Express
•	#148 Clarendon/Michigan Express (weekdays in peak direction only)

The Chicago Transit Board approved a construction contract on July 20 for the reconstruction of the Addison, Damen, Montrose and Irving Park Brown Line stations as part of the Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project. Following contract approval, the construction contractor will prepare and submit a construction plan to CTA for approval.

Each station will be subject to temporary closure for a period of 12 months during construction. However, no two adjacent stations will be scheduled to close at the same time so customers may go to the next closest station for service. During periods of temporary closure, customers are encouraged to use the most convenient existing CTA bus and rail service in the area.

The renovated Damen station will benefit all Brown Line customers with:

•	Longer platforms that accommodate longer trains Eight-car trains (two additional cars) means more customers can board.
•	Accessibility for everyone Elevators and accessible turnstiles meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
•	Modern and convenient features Wider stairways to improve platform access, more turnstiles to ease congestion and additional exits/entrances to improve the flow of customer traffic.
