The Irving Park station reopened
to customer service on
December 6, 2008.
The renovated stationhouse,
situated in the same location at
1816-18 W. Irving
Park Road, is accessible to customers with
disabilities with the addition of elevators—bringing
the total of accessible CTA rail stations to 86 out
of 144.
In addition to new elevators,
CTA also reconfigured the inbound and outbound platforms
to make them longer, wider and able to accommodate
eight-car trains at the station. Other amenities
include accessible turnstiles, brighter lighting,
new signs - including Braille signs - and a bike
rack.
